Wümme cycle path (250 km)

The approximately 250 kilometer long Wümme cycle path connects the Lüneburg Heath with the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen as a circular route. Enjoy a varied northern German landscape shaped by the Wümme from the source at the foot of the Wulfsberg to its mouth via the Lesum into the Weser.


The Wümme cycle path consists of an approx. 125 km long northern route and an approx. 135 km long southern route and is divided into attractive individual sections by numerous cross-connections. The entire route is therefore also suitable for day trippers and families.

Mill route through the Rotenburg (Wümme) district


Numerous water mills, but also some wind and motor mills, lead you back to times long past on this circular route. The 250 km long overall route is divided into a north, middle and south route of 90 - 100 kilometers each, so that shorter tours are also possible.


Many of the historic buildings have been brought back to life with great commitment and are reminiscent of the past. Beautifully located, they invite you to dream and linger in many places. In cafés and restaurants you can also enjoy homemade regional specialties in a historic atmosphere.


The mill route in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district is also part of the Lower Saxony Mill Route with more than 170 historic mills. Every year on Whit Monday, many of these mills open their doors and offer a colorful supporting program.

The herb route leads along well-developed cycle and agricultural paths as well as district and country roads through an attractive cultural landscape - the Wiesteniederung herb region. Diverse biotopes with wet meadows, swamp forests, moors and the Wieste river on one side and fallow and arable land on the other characterize the landscape.
